TUTONG, Friday, 23 March 2018 – A personnel from the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), Able Rate (AR) Mersofiandi bin Merzuki, RBN and his sister recited their Islamic oath at Masjid Kg Biong, Tutong, today.
Present at the ceremony as the Guest of Honour was First Admiral Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Norazmi Bin Pengiran Haji Muhammad, Acting Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF). Also present were Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Ramli bin Haji Lahit, Member of the Legislative Council, Awang Haji Shamsul Bahrin bin Haji Mohd Hussain, the Tutong District Officer, senior officers from the RBAF and the Islamic Da’wah Centre as well as families.
The ceremony began with the recital of verses from Al-Qur’an and the declaration of Syahadah (declaration of faith) from AR Mersofiandi bin Merzuki, RBN and his sister, led by officers from the Islamic Da’wah Centre.
Subsequently, the Dikir Marhaban as well as the sprinkling of bunga rampai and gift presentation were given by the Guest of Honour, invited guests and families.
AR Mersofiandi bin Merzuki, RBN, now known as Muhammad Sufyan bin Merzuki, is the second RBAF personnel to convert to Islam this year and the 112th since 2006.
