MUARA, Thursday, 6 October 2016 – THE Special Force Regiment (SFR) were crowned the overall champions of the Cross-Country Run 2016 competition today.


The annual competition was organized by Training Institute Royal Brunei Armed Forces (TI RBAF) and was held at Serasa, Muara. As many as 60 RBN officers including enlisted personnel participated in the event, namely 35 participants in the 10km Cross-Country Run and 25 participants for the 4.3km Fun Run.


The 10km Cross-Country Run kicked off at the Mini Stadium, Naval Training Centre of RBN, whereas the 4.3km Fun Run started at Masjid Kg Kapok, Serasa and finished at RBAF Watermanship Centre in Serasa, Muara.

 

On hand to present the prizes was Commander of RBAF Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, who also participated in the Fun Run.


The Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF) Team finished as runners-up while the Ministry of Defence (MinDef) Team finished third.


A total of 180 RBAF personnel from MinDef, RBLF, SFR, Royal Brunei Air Force, RBN and TI RBAF participated in the annual competition.


The Cross-Country Run was also held to test the resilience of the participants, divided into two categories – group and open category according to age where participants were required to run for 10Km through hilly areas and roads.
