FRIDAY, 13th February 2015, Serasa – Maintaining fitness and stamina is a must for personnel of the Royal Brunei Navy in which they have to undergo specific and tailored activities to test as well as cultivate these qualities. An orienteering competition is one such activity under this pursuit in which the final race was held this morning at Watermanship Complex, Serasa.

Joining to witness the final race as the Guest of Honour was the Deputy Commander Royal Brunei Navy, Colonel (L) Pengiran Norazmi bin Pengiran Mohammed. Also in attendance were Senior RBN Officers and RBN Officers.
 
Pangkalan B team was named champion of the Royal Brunei Navy orienteering finals 2015. Skuadron Bantu team and Armada team came in second and third places respectively.
 
The Orienteering Championship was divided into six categories, namely a Team category and four other open categories. In the Individual category event, 50880 Sld (L) Yusmizan (Pangkalan B) came into first place, 50870 Sld (L) Yusmizan (Pangkalan B) and 14927 Sjn (L) Hairol (Pangkalan B) became second place and third place.
 
Meanwhile the Officer’s Open category for ages 40 years and above winned by 12535 Sjn (L) Rosli.
 
As for the Open category for ages 30-39 years and below was grasped by 16606 Lcpl (L) Abd Rahim from Pangkalan A team.
 
In the Open category for the ages 29 years and below, first place won by 50815 Sld (L) Harun (Armada), second place to 50769 Sld (L) Abdul Gafar (Armada) and third place 18749 Sld (L) Hakim (Armada).
 
The overall score rankings were, Pangkalan B got away with 1560 points, Skuadron Bantu with 1540 points and Armada with 1515 points. The prizes presentation was conveyed by the guest of honour.
 
The Competition is one of the annual sports activities at the RBAF level which was aimed at strengthen team spirit, testing individual’s physical and mental resilience and endurance and to test their map reading skills.
