BOLKIAH GARRISON,
FRIDAY, 18 SEPTEMBER 2026 – The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) held its 2026 Netball Tournament at the Dewan Gerak Badan in Bolkiah Garrison. The event brought together female officers and personnel from across the RBN, who were divided into four teams- the Valkyries, Netsailors, Riptide, and Seanoritas- to compete in the spirit of teamwork, camaraderie, and sportsmanship while promoting physical fitness and an active lifestyle.
Lieutenant Commander Dk Lyadia Ulandari binti Pg Haji Muhammad, RBN, Base Commanding Officer, officiated the ceremony and presented prizes to the winning teams and outstanding players. The event was also attended by senior female officers, along with other officers and personnel of the RBN.
Following the conclusion of the matches, Team Valkyries emerged as the champions, with the Netsailors finishing as the runners-up. Riptide and the Seanoritas secured third and fourth places, respectively.
The tournament also recognised outstanding individual performances. Able Rate Dk Noor Izatul Raihanah binti Pg Mohd Harun of Team Valkyries was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) for her exceptional all-round performance, leadership on the court, and consistent contributions. Petty Officer Nurhaziqah binti Haji Mohd Ali, also from Team Valkyries, received the Best Shooter Award for her remarkable accuracy and composure under pressure. Meanwhile, the Best Defender Award was presented to Leading Hand Dk Ummi Ramizah binti Pg Haji Jeludin from the Netsailors in recognition of her stellar defensive skills.
The tournament reflects the RBN’s continued commitment to fostering esprit de corps, encouraging teamwork, and promoting physical fitness among its personnel.
