BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Sunday, 25 March 2018 – The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) joined this week’s Bandarku Ceria which was organised by the Performance Optimisation Centre (POC) in collaboration with the Directorate of Administration and Manpower, supported by units and departments of the Ministry of Defence and Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
The event also introduced water sports and activities to the programme such as kayaking, water ball, water bicycle, dragon boat tug of war and many more, which took place along the waters and banks of Sungai Kedayan, adjacent to the Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas.
The a morning ‘Masjidku Makmur’ programme was also held at the Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque with a mass Fajr prayer and a morning ‘Tazkirah’ titled ‘Riyadah Sebagai Satu Sunnah’ was delivered by Major Ariffin bin Amit, Assistant Head of Religious Department RBAF.
Among the participating officers were 1000 personnel from the Ministry of Defence and Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) including their families, led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister of Defence II.
Also taking part were Major General Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Commander of the RBAF, Captain (Retired) Dato Paduka Abd Rahman bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar, RBN, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, First Admiral Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Norazmi Bin Pengiran Haji Muhammad, Commander of RBN, Service Commanders, Deputy Permanent Secretaries and senior officers and staff from the Ministry of Defence and RBAF.
The highlight of the day was when the RBN team led by the Commander of RBN won the first place for the Dragon Boat Race and RBN team also won the Dragon boat tug of war event. The objectives of today event are as initiatives to support the whole-of-nation approach towards a healthy lifestyle and integrating the community through sports, to contribute to the development of a sporting culture in the nation and at the same time, strengthen national unity through community involvement as a whole.
