JERUDONG, Friday, 16 March 2018 – Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF) emerged as champion of the annual Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Orienteering Competition this year followed by Special Force Regiment (SFR) in second place and Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) in third place. The competition was held this morning at Jerudong Sports Complex and the area surrounding Kampong Sengkurong ‘B’.
The competition puts to test the navigational skills and endurance fitness of the orienteers, where participants will have to make their way across unfamiliar terrain using only a map and a compass.
Six teams participated in the event namely the Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF), Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF), RBAF Training Institute (TI RBAF), Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and Special Forces Regiment (SFR). A total of 37 officers and 161 from other ranks contested in two main events – team and individual.
The RBAF Orienteering Competition 2017/2018 ended with a prize presentation ceremony to the winners, presented by the Guest of Honour, Major General Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Commander of RBAF. Also present to witness the event were RBAF Service Commanders, Joint Force Commander, RBAF officers and personnel.
