MUARA, Tuesday 3 May 2016 – The ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting-Plus Maritime Security and Counter Terrorism Exercise (ADMM Plus MS & CT) was officially launched today with an opening ceremony held at the Multi National Coordination Centre (MNCC) in Muara.

The Exercise launching ceremony commenced with a welcoming remark by the Exercise Co-Director, Brigadier General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sahat , Joint Force Commander RBAF.

The ceremony was followed by a speech by the Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah. Following this, the RBAF Commander officiated the ADMM Plus MS & CT Exercise and activated the Exercise Task Groups. Present to witness the officiating ceremony were the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Services Commanders, Deputy Permanent Secretaries, Senior Officials and personnel from the ADMM-Plus countries involved in the Exercise. The RBAF Commander was later taken for a tour of the Exercise Control Centre in MNCC.

The ADMM-Plus MS & CT this year is co-hosted by the RBAF and Singapore Armed Forces after the success of the ADMM-Plus Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief and Military Medicine (ADMM Plus HADR & MM) Exercise in 2013. This is a multilateral exercise that aims to enhance military cooperation and increase interoperability between participating countries in responding to maritime threats.
