Hawaii, United States of America, 1 August 2026 – Four officers from the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) participated as members of the Harbour Command Team during Exercise Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2026, held at both K. Mark Takai Pacific Warfighting Centre, Ford Island and Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Honolulu, Hawaii, United States of America, from 2 July to 1 August 2026.
Lieutenant Commander Muhamad Adib Izzuddin bin Haji Ramli, RBN, and Lieutenant Commander Khairul Fadzillah bin Awang Roslan, RBN, were attached to the Maritime Operations Centre (MOC), Combined Force Maritime Component Command (CFMCC), while Lieutenant Commander Ikhwan bin Haji Junaidi, RBN, was attached to Combined Task Force (CTF) 176.3. In addition, Lieutenant Junior Grade Mohammad Irsyaduddin bin Haji Azahar, RBN, was attached to the Multinational Logistics Support Element (MLSE).
Throughout the exercise, the officers contributed to multinational headquarters functions involving operational watchkeeping, maritime planning and coordination, information operations, logistics support and the synchronisation of activities among participating forces. As members under the MOC, CFMCC, CTF & MLSE, the naval officers worked alongside over 220 multinational staff from 24 participating nations across 15 functional cells, supporting the planning, coordination and execution of maritime operations throughout RIMPAC 2026. Their respective appointments provided valuable exposure to the planning and execution of complex maritime operations within a combined and multinational environment.
The participation reinforced the officers’ professional knowledge, leadership, decision-making and interoperability while strengthening cooperation with international partners. The experience gained will contribute to the RBN’s continued organisational development by enhancing its capacity to support multinational maritime operations and develop competent, adaptable and operationally ready naval personnel.
