BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Wednesday, 18 April 2018 – The Officer Under Training Course (OUTC), Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) paid a visit to RBAF Military Legal Unit (MLU), the Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department (BDMD) of the Ministry of Communications and the Survey Department of the Ministry of Development. Present during the visits were the Royal Brunei Technical Service staff, Naval Training Center (NTC) instructors and the young fleet officers.
During the visit to MLU, The OUTC officers were given a brief presentation by Captain Azura binti Hidup and Captain Nur Nadiah binti Nassaruddin which started with the roles and functions of the Unit and the basic legal knowledge required by every RBAF personnel. The OUTC participants had the opportunity to not only learn new information but also had the chance to ask questions to enhance their understanding on the importance of this unit.
This was followed by separate visits to BDMD and the Survey Department, where presentations were given by the officers of each department; Marzeti binti Haji Mahadi and Ariffin bin Yussof from BDMD and Abdul Malik bin Haji Abdul Hamid, the Head of the Hydrographic Department from the Survey Department. The RBTS staff, NTC instructors and RBN officers were welcomed by Marzeti binti Haji Mahadi, the officer from BDMD and Pg Hajah Hasnalyati bin Pg Haji Mukmin, the acting deputy surveyor general from the Survey Department. The presentations included information on the development of the departments, their main functions and how their findings can contribute to the RBN. Following the presentations, brief discussions were held which aided the RBN Officers’ knowledge on both BDMD and the Survey Department and how their services could serve the armed forces. The visit to the Survey Department ended with an interactive tour around the Geospatial Mapping Section.
Throughout these visits, both the departments and officers from the Royal Brunei Navy were able to learn and meet new people that played a part in contributing to the RBN’s line of work. By the end of these visits, the officers of intake 16 not only broadened their understanding of such topics but it helped them to understand how these departments and the RBN can work together.
