MUARA NAVAL BASE, Sunday, 16 October 2016 – KRI USMAN HARUN & KRI TERAPANG from the Indonesian Navy (IDN) arrived in Brunei today to participate in the Bilateral Exercise HELANG LAUT which will be hosted by the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN).
KRI USMAN HARUN commanded by Captain Alan Dahlan and KRI TERAPANG commanded by Lieutenant Commander Fitriyan, were received and welcomed by Commander Sahibul Bahri bin Hj Zainal Abidin, Commanding Officer KDB DARUTTAQWA along with RBN Fleet Officers and personnel at Jetty Bravo, Muara Naval Base.
The ships will conduct a 5-day exercise with Patrol Vessel KDB DARUTTAQWA and Fast Patrol Boat KDB BERKAT with the objective to enhance naval operations interoperability between both navies.
The significant for this year’s exercise will also involve naval aviation operations and the signing of the first review of HELANG LAUT STANDARD EXERCISE PROCEDURE (HELSEP).
The opening ceremony for Exercise HELANG LAUT 17B/16 is scheduled to take place on Monday, 17 Oct 16 at the Multinational Coordination Center (MNCC), Muara.
