MUARA, Wednesday, 29 November 2017 – KDB DARUTTAQWA safely arrived at Muara Naval Base after her participation in the First ASEAN Multilateral National Exercise (AMNEX) and International Fleet Review (IFR) 2017 in conjunction with the celebration of 50th ASEAN establishment which is hosted by Royal Thailand Navy (RTN) that was held in Sattahip and Pattaya, Thailand from 13 November to 22 November 2017.

Welcoming the arrival of KDB DARUTTAQWA was the Acting Commander of Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), Captain Hj Othman bin Hj Suhaili@Suhaily, RBN. Also present were RBN Officers and RBN personnel.

AMNEX and IFR 2017 was an event that involved more than 38 naval ships from the ASEAN and international navies to celebrate the auspicious occasion of the 50th anniversary establishment of ASEAN, coincidently it was in 1967 ASEAN declaration that was signed in Thailand.

While en route and prior to AMNEX and IFR 2017 in Thailand, KDB DARUTTAQWA involved in a bilateral exercise hosted by the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) codename exercise PELICAN 36/17 from 10 until 12 November 2017.

KDB DARUTTAQWA also involved with another bilateral exercise codename exercise HELANG LAUT series 18B/17 from the 22 November until 26 November 2017 upon the completion of AMNEX and IFR 2017 held in Thailand.

The conduct of AMNEX and IFR 2017, PELICAN and HELANG LAUT has significantly improved interoperability between RBN and ASEAN navies.
