SEBANGMAWANG INDONESIA, Monday, 27 November 2017 –Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) ship, KDB DARUTTAQWA alongside at jetty Sebangmawang, Riau Island, Indonesia on the 25th November 2017 with Tentara Nasional Indonesia – Angkatan Laut (TNI-AL) ship, KRI RADEN EDDY MARTADINATA (REM), after completing the sea phase of bilateral exercise between RBN and TNI-AL codename ‘Exercise HELANG LAUT’ series 18B/17. The exercise commences on 22nd November until 26th November 2017 upon the completion of AMNEX 2017 held in Thailand.
The Opening Ceremony was held on 22nd November 2017 onboard REM and was officiated by the Commanding Officer REM, Capt Agam Endrasmoro, the Commander Task Group for this year exercise. Whilst the Closing Ceremony was officiated onboard DTQ and was officiated by the by the Commanding Officer KDB DARUTTAQWA, Lt Cdr Rasman bin Puteh, the Deputy Commander Task Group. Both ceremonies were witnessed by RBN and TNI-AL officers and sailors.
The exercise provides valuable opportunities for both navies to strengthen relationships and enhance mutual co-operation and understanding through the development of common operational doctrines, procedures and tactics. This year exercise featured both ashore and sea phase. Among the serials conducted during the sea phase were Surface Action Group Exercise, Boarding Exercise, Surface Firing Exercise and RAS Approach, other than navigation and communication serials.
This exercise aim was to strengthen bilateral relationship and cooperation as well as to enhance interoperability between the two navies and promote mutual understanding and to bolster the existing long-standing relationship among the officers and sailors from both navies.
KDB DARUTTAQWA sailed today from Sebangmawang and is scheduled to arrive in Muara on the 29th November 2017.
