BRUNEI, Saturday, 31 August 2019 – KDB DARULAMAN set sail on Thursday, 29 August 2019, to participate in a boarding operation scenario in conjunction with the 18th Southeast Asia Cooperation and Training (SEACAT) Exercise on Saturday, 31 August 2019.

In the boarding operation scenario, KDB DARULAMAN was given a task to track, board and seize a designated Vessel of Interest (VOI), which had been reported to be involved with illegal fishing, endangered animal smuggling and drug trafficking by the Information Fusion Centre (IFC) in Singapore and Royal Brunei Navy Headquarters (RBN HQ). KDB DARULAMAN successfully conducted a compliant boarding onboard the VOI by RBN boarding team.

The realistic boarding operation scenario met the expectation in realizing the aim of the Exercise SEACAT, which is to enhance cooperation and interoperability amongst the participating regional navies to boost maritime security collaboration to counter illegal smuggling and piracy in the Indo-Pacific region. Participating nations include Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, United States and Vietnam.
