MUARA, Thursday, 23 November 2017 – The Head of Education of the Indonesian Navy, Tentara Nasional Indonesia – Angkatan Laut (TNI-AL), First Admiral Manahan Simorangkir and delegations arrived on the 22 November 2017 for a three-day visit in Brunei Darussalam.
The visit commenced with the arrival of First Admiral Manahan Simorangkir at the Naval Training Centre, Royal Brunei Navy and then he made a call to Acting Commandant Naval Training Centre, Commander Pengiran Omaralli bin Pengiran Jaya Indera Pengiran Haji Mokhtar Puteh, RBN followed by a brief on introduction of Naval Training Centre, RBN.
Subsequently, First Admiral Manahan Simorangkir and delegations were also brought to Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Tanah Jambu to meet the Commandant RBAF , Colonel Saiful Akhmar bin Hj Mohd Shariff for a courtesy call and the delegations were also given a briefing on Defence Academy followed by a tour to the facilities.
After the visit at the Defence Academy RBAF, they were invited to curry lunch at RBN Officer’s Mess which were hosted by the Acting Commandant NTC. To conclude the visit, First Admiral Manahan Simorangkir then made a call to Acting Commander of Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), Captain Hj Othman bin Hj Suhaili@Suhaily, RBN and the call ended with plaque exchange.
The TNI-AL and RBN have a long history of naval cooperation in form of bilateral and multilateral exercises, visits, professional exchanges and courses. Both navies also interact multilaterally through the ASEAN Navy Chief’s Meeting (ANCM), ASEAN Defence Minister’s Meeting Plus (ADMM-Plus) and Western Pacific Naval Symposium (WPNS).
First Admiral Manahan Sumarangkir was appointed as the Head of Education Service for the Indonesian Navy on the 14 November 2017.
