MALAYSIA, Wednesday 25 February 2015 – The Commander of Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit, made a three day official Farewell Visit to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 24 to 26 February 2015.
During the visit, the Commander of RBN made a courtesy call to Admiral Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Abdul Aziz bin Haji Jaafar, Chief of Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) and His Excellency Datuk Abdul Rahim Bakri, the Deputy Minister of Defence, Malaysia. Upon arrival at the Ministry of Defence in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the Commander of RBN was greeted by Chief of RMN and other senior officers from the RMN and inspected the Guard of Honour which comprised of personnel of the Royal Malaysian Land Force (RMLF).
During the courtesy call both parties highlighted the close defence ties as well as the strong relationship between Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam which include various defence cooperation, interactions and exercises such as Exercise Hornbill, participation in the Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA), regional cooperation such as the ASEAN Defence Minister Meeting Plus Expert Working Group (ADMM + EWG), the ASEAN Navy Chiefs Meeting (ANCM), the Maritime Security Expert Working Group and Western Pacific Naval Symposium (WPNS).
The Commander of RBN and delegation also attended a dinner hosted by the Chief of RMN at the Hotel Royale Chulan, Kuala Lumpur and had the opportunity to further interact with other senior officers of the RMN and their spouses. During the dinner, the Commander of RBN also conveyed his utmost appreciation to the Chief of RMN for organising the farewell visit and also for the support and cooperation from RMN throughout his tenure as the Commander of RBN.
