Tuesday, 22 July 2014, VALENCIA, SPAIN: After 7 days since the start of her maiden voyage, Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) Patrol Vessel DARUTTAQWA safely arrived at her first port of call Valencia, Spain. The patrol vessel left Lemwerder, Germany on 15 July 2014 and sailed through the North Sea, the English Channel, Bay of Biscay and the Strait of Gibraltar into Mediterranean Sea.During the journey from Germany to Spain, DARUTTAQWA had conducted activities such as individual & collective training and lectures.
As it is still the month of Ramadhan, personnel are also having group iftar and sunnat terawih prayer onboard. The ship is currently berthed at Muelle de Turia Norte, a commercial pier in Port of Valencia, for 3 days before continuing her maiden voyage. Commanding Officer of Patrol Vessel DARUTTAQWA, Lieutenant Colonel (L) Khairil Haji Abdul Rahman, also paid a courtesy call to the Commandante Comandancia Naval de Valencia, Captain Bartolome Canovas Sanchez. This is the first time for the Royal Brunei Navy ship to stop over in Spain and it is hoped that this visit will establish a good relations between the two navies.
Patrol Vessel DARUTTAQWA is due to leave Valencia on Friday, 25 July 2014 and the next port of call will be the Jeddah Islamic Port, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.Patrol Vessel DARUTTAQWA is sailed by 13 officers and 48 crews.
