COMMENCEMENT OF THE ANNUAL EXERCISE SEMBILANG 13/2018

Monday 30th April 2018 – The Opening Ceremony for Exercise Sembilang Serial 13/2018 was held at Nakhoda Hall, Naval Training Centre. The exercise will be conducted from the 30th of April until the 3rd of
May 2018 and will involve the Marine Police Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) and the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN). This year‘s annual joint exercise is hosted by RBN and was officiated by the Acting Fleet Commander of RBN, Captain Zil Husam bin Hj Abd Rahman.

The Acting Commanding Officer of the Marine Police RBPF, DSP Pengiran Muhaimin bin Pengiran Mustapha made separate Courtesy Calls to the Commander of RBN, First Admiral Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Norazmi bin Pengiran Haji Muhammad and the Acting Fleet Commander of RBN.

The main objective for this year’s joint exercise is to further enhance the established mutual understandings found between the Marine Police and RBN in conducting joint operations. These joint operations are conducted in accordance to the Prosedur Tetap (PROTAP) Sembilang which places emphasis in real-time joint operations, focusing on investigation, patrol and joint movements.

Exercise Sembilang Serial 13/2018 is composed of three phases. The first phase involves lectures and discussion sessions on the operations and also the roles and responsibilities of both organisations. The second phase, the sea phase, concentrates more on the practical side of the exercise which allows both units to practice both joint and separate boarding operations using the appropriate command chain and procedure. The final phase concludes the whole exercise, including the closing ceremony and the sports interaction between both organisations for The Sembilang Cup. Both of which will be held on the 3rd of May 2018.

Exercise Sembilang Serial 13/18 aims to benefit both the Marine Police and RBN from various aspects which enables both organisations to meet their main objectives. Mainly focusing on the joint maritime cooperation and the sharing of responsibilities in maintaining the maritime security and integrity of Brunei Darussalam.
