BEIJING, PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA, Tuesday, 25 April 2017 – First Admiral Pg Dato Seri Pahlawan Norazmi bin Pg Haji Muhammad, the Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) was in the People’s Republic of China from 25 April to 27 April 2017 for an introductory visit during which he paid a courtesy call to the Commander of People’s Liberation Army-Navy (PLA-N), Vice Admiral Shen Jinlong at PLA-N Headquarters (HQ) in Beijing.
Upon arrival at the PLA-N HQ, Commander of RBN inspected a Guard of Honour mounted by sailors of the PLA-Navy.
During the call, both sides were encouraged by the state of the existing cooperation particularly in the field of training exchanges at all levels, sea exercises and port visits.
A banquet was also hosted by the Commander of PLA-N to honour the Commander of RBN and his delegation.
As part of the visit programme, the Commander of RBN visited North Sea Fleet Headquarters where he was formally received by the Deputy Commander of North Sea Fleet PLA-N, Rear Admiral Chen Qiangnan.
The introductory visit marks an important milestone in the bilateral relations between RBN and PLA-N, made more significant being done during the occasion of the PLA-N’s 68th anniversary, which was celebrated on 23 April.
Another significant event planned by the two sides this year is the PLA-N ships’ visit to Brunei Darussalam in September 2017.
