Muara Naval Base, Friday 09 May 2014 – The Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), Yang Mulia Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit, made his inaugural Commander’s visit to Coastal Patrol Craft Squadron (CPC). The visit also coincides with the commemoration of KDB PERWIRA’s 40 year service since her commissioning in 1974.The Commander of RBN was greeted by the Squadron Commander of CPC, Captain (L) Pengiran Mohd Faren bin Pg Mohd Noor. The Commander was cordially invited to address the officers and sailors of the CPC Squadron where he touched on the roles and core duties of Royal Brunei Navy in its importance and commitment to safeguard Brunei Darussalam’s territorial waters. In his address, he emphasised on the obligations and significance of CPCs in deterring illegal activities in Brunei Darussalam’s coastal waters.
The importance of maintaining a high level of readiness was also highlighted, emphasising discipline and training as an essential element to induce professionalism amongst the personnel of CPC Squadron. He further added, that maintaining and planning a good standard and efficient training is imperative to optimise professionalism.
The Commander of RBN then underlined the significance of maintaining and passing all required military fitness tests and in practicing a healthy life style, as it need not be just a military requirement but more of an innate characteristic that should be embedded in every personnel.
He further added that religious values as being key to upholding discipline and stressed on the importance to grasp on to religious values as key to achieve this affable aim. He also reiterated his belief that upholding the RBAF core values can guide personnel to be effective components to the service and community.
The highlight of the visit was the cake-cutting of a replica shaped KDB PERWIRA and followed by a tour and the signing of parchment on-board KDB MUSTAED.
