MUARA NAVAL BASE, Tuesday, 19 March 2024 – The Royal Thai Navy (RTN) ships, namely HTMS TAKSIN, HTMS BHUMIBOL ADULYADEJ, and HTMS KRABURI, have successfully concluded a goodwill visit to Brunei Darussalam. The visit took place from 16 March to 19 March 2024, with Rear Admiral Chakchai Noihuahaad, Chief of Staff Royal Thai Naval Academy leading the delegation. The delegation also included Captain Tachapon Pisamai, Commanding Officer HTMS TAKSIN, Captain Jitpoolphol, Commanding Officer HTMS BHUMIBOL ADULYADEJ, and Captain Kraipich Koraweepaparwit, Commanding Officer HTMS KRABURI.
The RTN delegation paid a courtesy call to Captain Sahibul Bahari bin Hj Zainal Abidin, RBN, the Fleet Commander RBN. The delegation exchanged views on various naval matters of common interest.
The visit included a cocktail reception, where RBN senior officers led by Captain Haji Sarif Pudin bin Matserudin, RBN, the Acting Commander of RBN and officers from both countries gathered to celebrate the successful completion of the goodwill visit. The goodwill visit also showcased an exciting HTMS BHUMIBOL ADULYADEJ ship tour for both the Royal Brunei Navy personnel and the public. Moreover, the RTN personnel were treated to a cultural visit to the Malay Technology Museum and Maritime Museum in Brunei Darussalam. It was also an opportunity for the sixteen (16) Muslim RTN personnel to experience fasting in the month of Ramadhan in Brunei Darussalam and perform Zuhor prayer at Surau Al-Huda as well as Terawih at Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque
Marking the end of the Goodwill Visit, the RTN ships conducted a passage exercise with KDB DARULEHSAN. This visit served as an opportunity for the two navies to strengthen their bond, foster goodwill, and promote cultural exchange. The visit was a resounding success, and both navies look forward to future collaborations. RBN wishes a smooth journey for the RTN ships to their next port of call.
