KARACHI, PAKISTAN – Friday, 7th February 2025
The 9th Multinational Maritime Exercise AMAN 2025 officially commenced at the Pakistan Navy Dockyard, bringing together senior military officials from 60 participating navies, including the Pakistan Navy, along with observers, foreign diplomats, and a large contingent of Pakistan Navy personnel. Rear Admiral Abdul Munib, Commander of the Pakistan Fleet (COMPAK), attended as the Chief Guest. Representing the Royal Brunei Navy as observers were Lieutenant Commander Ahmad Zubair bin Abd Nasir, RBN, Principal Warfare Officer KDB AL-FARUQ, and Lieutenant Mahdini bin Sabli, RBN, Navigation Officer KDB AS-SIDDIQ.
During the ceremony, a message from Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) of the Pakistan Navy, was delivered by Commodore Omar Farooq, Commander of the 9th Auxiliary & Mine Warfare Squadron (COMAUXMIN-9). Admiral Ashraf extended a warm welcome to all participants, highlighting AMAN’s progressive expansion since its inception in 2007. The event featured a march-past by Pakistan Navy contingents and the hoisting of flags representing all participating nations. In his inaugural speech, Rear Admiral Abdul Munib emphasized that Exercise AMAN aims to foster regional camaraderie, enhance interoperability, and demonstrate a united resolve against multifaceted maritime threats.
The Royal Brunei Navy delegation actively participated in harbor activities, dialogues, maritime counterterrorism demonstrations, and cultural showcases, alongside representatives from 60 nations. This year’s exercise also introduced the Maiden AMAN DIALOGUE (9th – 10th February 2025) under the theme “Secure Seas, Prosperous Future.” This platform provided an opportunity for maritime leaders, professionals, and distinguished scholars to share insights and develop innovative solutions to emerging challenges.
Exercise AMAN 2025 concluded on 11th February 2025 with the sea phase and International Fleet Review (IFR), featuring 31 naval vessels, including Pakistan Navy submarines and 13 ships from 11 foreign nations. Additionally, 16 air units from 12 countries showcased their diverse capabilities during the IFR, marking a successful completion of the multinational exercise.​
