LEMWERDER, Monday 10 March 2014 – Deputy Minister of Defence, Dato Paduka Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat and delegation attended Steering Committee Meeting 04 onboard PV80-V2 DARUTTAQWA in Bremen hosted by Fr Luerssen Werft (FLW).On his arrival at FLW shipyard based in Lemwerder, Bremen, the Managing Director of FLW, Mr Peter Luerssen, greeted Deputy Minister before joining PV80-V2 DARUTTAQWA to conduct Sea Acceptance Test (SAT) in the North Sea and Baltic Sea. Prior to the sail, the delegation was given a briefing and tour of the vessel.
The meeting deliberated on the progress of the project, focusing on technical and contractual matters as well as updates on the construction of 4th Patrol Vessel, before the acceptance that is scheduled on the 9th May 2014.
Currently, the Royal Brunei Navy operates three DARUSSALAM Patrol Vessels Class, four IJHTIHAD Fast Patrol Boat Class and one MUSTAED Fast Interceptor Boat Class. PV80-V2 DARUTTAQWA, the 4th DARUSSALAM-class Patrol Vessel has successfully completed Yard Trial and 1st phase of SATs on 25th to 26th February 2014 and the 2nd phase of SATs on 10th to 14th March 2014.
Members of the delegation comprised of Deputy Commander of Royal Brunei Navy who is also the Project Manager, Colonel (L) Pengiran Norazmi bin Pengiran Haji Muhammad; Senior Special Duties Officer, Dayang Ang Guat Lay; Head of Project Naval Overseer, Lieutenant Colonel (L) Azlan bin Haji Ahmad; and Commanding Officer of PV80-V2 DARUTTAQWA, Lieutenant Colonel (L) Khairil bin Haji Abdul Rahman.
Before departing back to FLW shipyard, the delegation was hosted to a luncheon onboard the vessel.
