MUARA, Wednesday, 6 August 2026 – The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) today welcomed participants of the 16th Command and Staff Course for a study visit held at the RBN Officers’ Mess.
A total of 39 officers participated in the visit, comprising 20 officers from the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), one officer from the Ministry of Defence, one officer from the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF), and 17 international military officers representing 13 countries, namely the Kingdom of Bahrain, the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, the People’s Republic of China, the Republic of Indonesia, the Republic of India, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Malaysia, the Sultanate of Oman, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Republic of the Philippines, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Republic of Singapore, and the Kingdom of Thailand.
The study visit commenced with the first brief, “Towards Navy 2040: Communicating the Future Requirement, Relevant in Present Context,” was delivered by the Assistant Chief of Staff Capability Development (ACOS), Commander Rasman bin Puteh, RBN, highlighting the Royal Brunei Navy’s long-term capability development plans and strategic vision.
This was followed by a briefing titled “The Royal Brunei Navy’s Role in National Security and Joint Operations,” presented by the Assistant Chief of Staff Intelligence (ACOS Intelligence), Lieutenant Commander Adib Izzuddin bin Haji Ramli, RBN, which provided participants with an overview of the Royal Brunei Navy’s roles and responsibilities in safeguarding Brunei Darussalam’s maritime interests, contributing to national security, and supporting joint operations.
Following the briefings, the participants were given a guided tour of KDB DARULAMAN, where they gained first-hand insight into the vessel’s operational capabilities, onboard systems, and the Royal Brunei Navy’s maritime operations.
The programme concluded with a luncheon hosted by the Deputy Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy, Captain Mohammad Azrin bin Haji Mahmud, RBN, providing an opportunity for participants and RBN personnel to strengthen professional ties, exchange perspectives, and enhance mutual understanding in support of regional and international defence cooperation.
The study visit reflects the Royal Brunei Navy’s continued commitment to supporting professional military education while fostering stronger defence relations and promoting knowledge sharing among military professionals from Brunei Darussalam and abroad.
