Sunday, 01 April, 2018 – A delegation of 30 personnel from the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN), lead by Yang Berbahagia Admiral Tan Sri Ahmad Kamarulzaman bin Haji Ahmad Badaruddin, Chief of RMN, competed in the BRUMAL 2018 sports interaction with the RBN which took place at Royal Brunei Golf & Country Club, Jerudong.This year’s program included five different sports, which were contested by both navies namely Golf, Football and Sepak Takraw for Males, and Bowling and Netball for females.
Among those that took part in Golf were Yang Berbahagia Admiral Tan Sri Ahmad Kamrulzaman bin Haji Ahmad Badaruddin, Chief of RMN, Yang Mulia First Admiral Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Norazmi bin Pengiran Haji Muhammad, Commander of Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), Yang Berbahagia Vice Admiral Dato’ Syed Zahiruddin Putra bin Syed Osman, Commander of Eastern Fleet, RMN and Officers from RBN and RMN.
Meanwhile, a bowling tournament was also held in the afternoon at the Utama Bowling Centre and participated by the spouse of Commander of Eastern Fleet RMN, Datin Mariam Suri binti Ahmad, the spouse of Commander of Royal Brunei Navy, Pengiran Datin Noralam binti Pengiran Haji Kahar and spouses of Royal Malaysian Navy and Royal Brunei Navy officers.
Other sports were also held at different venues, such as Football at the Naval Training Centre Football Field, Sepak Takraw at the RBN Primary School and Netball at the Royal Brunei Air Force Gymnasium.
Later in the evening, an official dinner was hosted by the Commander of RBN that took place at the Officers’ Mess, RBN as an extension of appreciation to the participation of RMN for this year’s sports interaction.
A prize-giving presentation was also held for the winners of respective sports competitions.
The highlight of the night was the presentation of the BRUMAL trophy which was won overall by RBN.
The purpose of the BRUMAL 2018 sports interaction is to enhance the relationship and social interaction among officers and personnel of both navies.
