PATTAYA, 22 – 25 August 2017 – With this year’s theme “Protection and Preservation of the Marine Environment” the 11th ASEAN Navy Chiefs’ Meeting (ANCM) Staff Officers’ Meeting commenced on 23rd August 2017 in Pattaya, Thailand.

The Staff Workshop for the upcoming 11th ANCM was officiated Rear Admiral Winai Wiruchkul, Deputy Director of the Naval Education Department, Royal Thai Navy (RTN) and chaired by Rear Admiral Paradon Puangkeaw, Director, Office of Policy and Planning, Naval Operations Department, RTN.

Royal Brunei Navy was represented by Commander Khairil bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Chief of Staff Royal Brunei Navy Headquarters and Lieutenant Akramin bin Alidin, Staff Officer Grade 3 Intelligence, RBN Headquarters.

The meeting briefed on the initiatives progress of the Joint Development of ANCM Roadmap and also the preparations of the International Fleet Review (IFR) in conjunction with 50th Anniversary of ASEAN IFR 2017 and the 1st ASEAN Multilateral Naval Exercise (AMNEX) hosted by the RTN. It also witnesses the briefing on the outcomes of the 5th ASEAN Navy Young Officers Interaction (ANYOI) programme hosted by the Myanmar Navy in October 2016 and a briefing on the upcoming 6th ANYOI that will be hosted by Royal Malaysian Navy.

In addition, the meeting also discussed the necessary preparations as well as the overall programme for the ASEAN Navy Chiefs during the 11th ANCM that will be held on 18 – 21 November 2017 in Pattaya, Thailand.

An Official Dinner for the Staff Workshop 11th ANCM was also held, and hosted by Vice Admiral Chorchat Gra-tes, the Director of the Naval Education Department, RTN.
