Muara, Friday, 07 July 2017 - A Closing Ceremony for the Special To Service (STS) Course for Midshipmen Officer Cadet School (OCS) Intake 16 has been conducted at Samudera Hall, Naval Training Center, Royal Brunei Navy (NTC, RBN) at Muara Naval Base. The Guest of Honour for the event was 384 Commander Muhammad Hadi Syarifuddin Bin Hj Hassanal Mega, Commanding Officer Naval Training Center. Also present during the ceremony were RBN officers, Training Officer OCS, instructors of NTC and Royal Brunei Technical Services – Defense Council International (RBTS-DCI) staff.
The STS course was a 15-weeks course, which commenced on 20th March, designed to provide Midshipmen with a basic understanding of general navigation, seamanship, rule of the road, coastal pilotage, chartwork, communications, as well as firefighting and damage control. Basic Sea Survival Course was also a part of its subject that was held at MEGAMAS, Belait. The objective of the course is to introduce the duties and responsibilities of an officer of the RBN and qualify an individual as a second Officer of the Watch (OOW).
Speaking on behalf of the course participants, 51836 MID Mohammad Fadhil bin Dato Paduka Kol (B) Haji Joharie, shared their experiences and reflections throughout the course. The speech was followed by a certificate presentation to the course participants by the Guest of Honour.
Of all 10 Midshipmen intake 16, 51835 MID Adri Qawiem bin Mohd Jefri have scored with the highest result. The closing ceremony ended with a closing doa and a group photo session with all the distinguished guests.
