MUARA, Tuesday, 14 November 2017 – RSS STALWART a Formidable-class stealth frigate of the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) is currently in Brunei Darussalam for a port visit from 14 to 17 November 2017. The Head of Delegation is Senior Lieutenant Colonel Neo Hock Chye Joseph, Deputy Commander (Navy) Midshipmen Wing, Officer Cadet School, SAFTI (Singapore Armed Forces Training Insitute) Military Insitute and the frigate is commanded by Senior Lieutenant Colonel Lim Kian Hua Augustine.
The visit is the second for RSS STALWART this year, the first was on 12 September 2017 where RSS STALWART conducted Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with KDB BERKAT. The second port visit to RBN this time is part of the Midshipmen Sea Training Deployment (MSTD). The total number of personnel onboard is 144, consisting of 20 officers, 44 midshipmen and 80 enlisted.
Upon arrival by officers and personnel of the RBN, lead by Commander Haji Edy Jofren bin Pehin Datu Panglima Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil, Commanding Officer of KDB DARULEHSAN.
Senior Lieutenant Colonel Neo Hock also made a courtesy call to First Admiral Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Norazmi bin Pengiran Haji Muhammad, Commander of RBN. During the call, the Commander of RBN expressed his warm welcome for the port visit and friendly bilateral defence relations between the two countries. Both sides touched on development of training between both navies. They highlighted the importance of leadership in building the young officer at the early stage of career.
The RSN personnel will be involved in various interactions and activities with RBN personnel such as curry lunch, sport interaction and ship visits before setting sail back to Changi Naval Base, Republic of Singapore.
