MUARA NAVAL BASE, Monday 30 April 2018 – Nisfu Sya’ban ceremony was held at Surau Al-Huda, Royal Brunei Navy (RBN). Approximately 500 RBN personnel, including Senior Officers, Officers and other ranks attended the blessed ceremony. Captain Haji Othman bin Haji Suhaily, RBN, Deputy Commander of the RBN was the Guest of Honour.
Upon the arrival of the Guest of Honour, 13007 PW2 Aliuddin bin Haji Sarbini, Fleet Weapon Engineer Staff, recited Surah Al-Baqarah verses 147 to 153, followed by Mass Maghrib prayers and the recitations of Surah Yaasin as well as the doa Nisfu Sya’aban. The intentions in the first recital was to seek good health in our life from Allah (S.W.T.) in our worship to Allah and in performing good deeds; the second recital to seek from Allah (S.W.T.) to grant us lawful prosperity and to guide us to be in uprightness at the end of our lives; and in the final recital, seeking from Allah (S.W.T.) to prevent and protect us from all misfortunes and calamities. Mass Isya’ prayers commenced before the end of the blessed ceremony.
The initiative of this event was meant to encourage the personnel of the RBN to be reminded of the sunnah of our Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) during the month of Sya’ban. The month of Sya’ban is the eighth month of the Islamic Calendar. The fifteenth night of this month is known as Laylatul-Bara’ah (the Night of Innocence) or Laylatun Nisfe min Sya’ban (the Middle Night of Sya’ban). It is the special night dedicated to seeking forgiveness and repent to Allah (S.W.T.), regretting past sins and sincerely settling the mind that one will not commit sins in the future. It is a night where our Buku Amalan for the past year entered the heavens and opening a new chapter for the following year. The ceremony was conducted in hopes that all our prayers and deeds, especially in the month of Sya’ban, will be accepted and deemed worthy in the eyes of Allah (S.W.T.). Amin.
