BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Thursday, 5 October 2017 –The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) today joined the whole nation in celebrating the 50th year that His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam ascended the throne.
About 423 RBN personnel were involved in the various festivities held in conjunction to the Golden Jubilee Celebration. This included with the 100 RBN personnel with the honourable role to be the Penarik Usungan Diraja and Sinipit for the Royal Procession around Bandar Seri Begawan.
The events began with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam inspecting a guard of honour comprising of personnel from the Royal Brunei Armed Forces and the Royal Brunei Police Force, before they performed a 21-gun salute. A Royal Audience Ceremony was then held, where members of the Royal Family, and several hundreds of diplomats and government officers, including the Ministry of Defence and the RBAF sat in attendance.
The festivities reached a climax when His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam, along with members of the Royal Family sat in a Royal Chariot for the Royal Procession.
