BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Tuesday 14th June 2016 – Today marks 51 years of the Royal Brunei Navy’s establishment, to commemorate the anniversary the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) held a Tahlil ceremony attended by officers and personnel of the RBN for the late parents of His Majesty the Sultan Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien and Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Bendahara Pengiran Anak Abdul Rahman at the Royal Mausoleum, Jalan Tutong this morning.
The tahlil ceremony commenced with the recitation of Surah Yassin and Tahlil by Captain Narulismandy bin Hj Samaih, Jemaat Operations Officer of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
The tahlil ceremony at the Royal Mausoleum was intended to seek mercy and blessings from Allah Subhannahu Wata’ala upon the departed father and mother of His Majesty the Sultan Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. It also seeks all officers and personnel of the RBN to inculcate passion and reminisce the contribution by the late Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien for the formation of RBN on 14th June 1965 which was then known as Boat Section, Royal Brunei Malay Regiment (AMDB).
Subsequently, a Khatam Al-Quran Ceremony and Doa Kesyukuran which followed by congregational prayers for Fardu Zuhur was held at RBN Surau headed by RBN’s Imam, Mohammad Khairol Azmi bin Haji Salleh.
Both events attended by the Commander of RBN, First Admiral Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Norazmi bin Pengiran Haji Muhammad, senior officers, officers, and enlisted personnel of RBN.
The religious ceremonies are annual event usually held separately, this year taking the opportunity of the Anniversary falls in the month of Ramadhan, the Royal Brunei Navy combined the events so as to enliven the holy month of Ramadhan. The ceremonies are aimed to unite the officers and personnel of the RBN also to seek the blessings and rewards from Allah Subhannahu Wa Ta’ala.
