MUARA NAVAL BASE, Thursday, 3 May 2018 – The Exercise Sembilang Series 13/2018, which began on the 30th of April 2018, officially ended this afternoon with a closing ceremony at Dewan Nakhoda, Naval Training Center (NTC), Muara. This joint exercise involved participations from the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) and the Marine Police, Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF).Present as the Guest of Honor was Senior Superintendent Haji Chipli bin Haji Mohammad, the Acting Director of Operations, RBPF. Also present during the closing ceremony was Commander Mohammad Azrin bin Haji Mohammad, the Acting Fleet Chief of Staff, RBN.
The Closing ceremony began with a summarised report of this year’s exercise given by the Coordinating Officer, Lieutenant Nazurah binti Haji Mahaleh. This report included the highlights of the three main phases and the agendas of the exercise – namely, the table top and discussion sessions, the practical sea phase and the sports interaction, the Sembilang Cup. This was followed by a report signing and an exchange of plaques between the Commander Task Group (CTG) and Deputy Commander Task Group (DCTG); Lieutenant Commander Ade Roddiane bin Haji Mohammad Rosdi and Deputy Superintendent Pengiran Haji Muhaimin bin Pengiran Haji Mustapha.
The Sembilang Cup involved friendly matches of football, volleyball and the tug of war between both parties and was won by the Marine Police, RBPF.
All planned events were conducted and executed successfully throughout the exercise which resulted in beneficial outcomes for both organisations. Both organisations managed to share and exchange experiences and knowledge which acts as an indication that the main objectives were reached during this exercise. This exercise lead to an enhancement of the mutual understandings found between RBN and the Marine Police, RBPF, which overall is hoped to contribute to Brunei Darussalam’s effectiveness in preventing and reducing illegal maritime activies.
