MUARA, Thursday, 30 November 2017 – The Ministry of Defence and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) hosted the Asia Pacific Regional Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) Seminar 2017 with the support from the Office of the Defence Adviser, British High Commission in Brunei Darussalam from 27 to 30 November 2017.
The seminar, held at the Nakhoda Auditorium, Naval Training Centre, was officially closed by the Commander of the RBAF, Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, as the Guest of Honour.
Lieutenant Commander Ted Bath from the UK Royal Navy as the facilitator congratulated all the participants before the Guest of Honour presented participation certificates to all.
A total of 57 officers participated in the seminar, including 23 officers from international countries namely Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Korea, Singapore, Thailand, United States of America and Vietnam.
The rest were officers from various departments under the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Development, Ministry of Communications, Ministry of Primary Resources & Tourism, as well as the Ministry of Defence and the RBAF.
The 4-day seminar, delivered by the International Commonwealth Training Unit (ICTU) from Maritime Warfare School, HMS COLLINGWOOD United Kingdom, aims to provide participants a broad understanding on maritime security within the EEZ as well as tools to better address maritime threats.
Also present at the closing ceremony were RBAF Service Commanders and Commandants, Defence Attachés and Advisers from participating countries.
