MUARA, Monday, 02 April 2018 – His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Minister of Defence and the Supreme Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), consented to award the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) Command Badge to Chief of Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN), Yang Berbahagia Admiral Tan Sri Ahmad Kamarulzaman bin Haji Ahmad Badaruddin. This was in recognition and appreciation for his service in enhancing the relations between RBN and RMN.The award was presented by Yang Mulia First Admiral Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Norazmi bin Pengiran Haji Muhammad, the acting Commander of RBAF at the RBN Headquarters.
Following the award, Yang Berbahagia Admiral Tan Sri Ahmad Kamarulzaman bin Haji Ahmad Badaruddin paid a courtesy call to the acting Commander of RBAF. Also present during the call was the Commander Eastern Fleet RMN, Yang Berbahagia Vice Admiral Dato’ Syed Zahiruddin Putra bin Syed Osman. During the call, the acting Commander of RBAF congratulated Chief of RMN for being recipient of the RBN Command Badge. Both sides discussed on naval-related activities between the navies of both countries in exercises and training.
During his two-day visit, Yang Berbahagia Admiral Tan Sri Ahmad Kamarulzaman bin Haji Ahmad Badaruddin also had the opportunity to participate in the golf tounament held at the Royal Brunei Golf & Country Club, Jerudong, in conjunction with Sukan Muhibah BRUMAL 2018.
Sukan Muhibbah BRUMAL 2018 is a sports interaction initiative between RBN and RMN that took place on 1st April 2018. The aim of this interaction is to enhance social and professional relationship between officers and personnel of the two navies.
Yang Berbahagia Admiral Tan Sri Ahmad Kamarulzaman bin Haji Ahmad Badaruddin took over the post as the Chief of RMN on 18 November 2015.
