MUARA, Tuesday, 27 March 2018 – Personnel from the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) today had the opportunity to attend a brief on the K3M (Kesedaran, Keselamatan, Komuniti, Maritim) application at the Multi-National Coordination Centre (MNCC), Muara. The briefing was presented by Captain Dr. Hisyam bin Harun, RMN, the Director of Information Technology, Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) Headquarters.
The K3M application, which stands for “Kesedaran” (awareness), “Keselamatan” (safety) and “Komuniti” (community), is an outcome of a collaboration between the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA).
The application was launched in a bid to increase safety at sea for the community by shortening response time from maritime authorities such as the Navy and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA). The application is able to connect operation centre with the maritime community, including fishermen and resort operators, to enable the swift reporting of any incidents.
The highlight of the K3M application briefing was the demonstration of the application by the presenter. A question and answer session ensued after the briefing, giving the RBN personnel in attendance the opportunity to gain exposure and knowledge of the application.
Also in attendance were the Captain Zil Husam bin Abdul Rahman, RBN, Commandant Naval Training and Commander Norshahrinizam bin Haji Talib, RBN, Commandant Support Services and representatives from Telekom Brunei Berhad and Telekom Malaysia.
