MUARA, Wednesday, 14 March 2018 – The Joint Commander Armed Forces in French Polynesia & Commander of the French Polynesia and Pacific Maritime Zone, Rear Admiral Denis Bertrand and delegations arrived on the 13th March 2018 for a three-day visit to Brunei Darussalam.

The visit commenced with a courtesy call to Commander of Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) First Admiral Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Norazmi bin Pengiran Haji Muhammad at RBN Headquarters and followed by a tour to the Naval Training Centre, RBN.


Followed by his visit to RBN, Rear Admiral Denis Bertrand also had the opportunity to deliver a talk on ‘Security in the Pacific’ and held a fruitful discussion session with the 8th Command and Staff Course students at the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Defence Academy.


In the afternoon, Rear Admiral Denis Bertrand made a separate courtesy calls to Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister of Defence II and Major General Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Commander of RBAF.


Both sides affirmed the warm and close bilateral defence relationship and gave assurance that the defence relations between the two countries will continue to be enhanced through more defence interactions in the future.


Before leaving Brunei Darussalam, Rear Admiral Denis Bertrand attended a dinner hosted by Commander of RBN at the Horizons Seafood Restaurant. Also present were France Defence Attache in Singapore accredited to Brunei Darussalam and RBN officers.
