Chief of Navy Republic Singapore Navy, Rear Admiral (Radm) Ng Chee Peng arrived in Brunei Darussalam on Sunday, 20 July 2014 for a two-day Farewell Visit to the Royal Brunei Navy.In his 2 days visit,Radm Ng Chee Peng, Chief of Navy from the Republic of Singapore Navy paid a courtesy call to the Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Seri Pahlawan Mohd Tawih Bin Abdullah at the Ministry of Defence.Followed after, Radm Ng Chee Peng visited Muara Naval Base and inspected a Guard of Honour. He also paid a courtesy call to First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz Bin Hj Mohd Tamit, Commander of Royal Brunei Navy (RBN).
In his speech during the official dinner hosted by Commander of RBN, he acknowledged on the remarks made by the Commander of RBN on the importance of RSN and RBN relationship which has extended more than just between the two armed forces but also for both countries may it be in defence and in other key areas of significance. He further added that he highly value this special relationship between RSN and RBN and also expressed his appreciation for the kind hospitality accorded to him and his delegation.
The visit by Radm Ng Chee Peng underscores the strong-standing bilateral defence ties between Brunei and Singapore. Both countries engage regularly in a wide range of activities, which include exchanges in training and courses, as well as bilateral exercises. Pelican Exercise between Royal Brunei Navy and Republic Singapore Navy started since 1979 and has reached its 33th series this year. This bilateral-exercise and continuous interactions between both personnel have further deepened and strengthened the relationship between the two navies.
Rear Admiral Ng Chee Peng will retire from the navy on 1st August since taking over the command of the navy on 29 March 2011.
