ROYAL BRUNEI NAVY, Monday 05 September 2016 – The Chief of Naval Staff of the Indonesian Navy (TNI-AL), Admiral (ADM) Ade Supandi accompanied by his spouse, Madam Endah Esti Hartantiningsih arrived in Brunei Darussalam on the 4 September 2016 for a three-day introductory visit.
Today, the visit commenced with the arrival of ADM Ade Supandi at the Muara Naval Base, accorded with a Guard of Honor presented by the personnel and RBN Band led by Lieutenant Awang Mohd Zulyamin bin Awang Mohd Noor, RBN.
He then made a call to Commander of Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), First Admiral Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Norazmi bin Pengiran Haji Muhammad and was later briefed on the RBN organization.
Subsequently, ADM Ade Supandi accompanied by Commander RBN for a ship tour onboard Patrol Vessel KDB DARUSSALAM and was greeted by the Commanding Officer, Commander Haji Nor Ariwwin bin Mohd Ali, RBN. The Admiral was briefed on the ship’s capabilities and witnessed the Rigid Inflatable Craft launching. The tour concluded with the signing of parchment and gift exchange.
In the afternoon, ADM Ade Supandi made a Courtesy Call to the Acting Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Brigadier General Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud and later to the Deputy Minister of Defence, First Admiral (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit at the Ministry of Defence, Bolkiah Garrison.
On a separate event, Pengiran Datin Noralam binti Pengiran Haji Kahar, spouse to Commander RBN accompanied Madam Endah Esti Hartantiningsih for a cultural visit in Tutong District. Madam Endah had the convenience to witness a glimpse of the diverse cultures and unique lifestyles of rural Brunei.
Later in the evening, ADM Ade Supandi and Spouse together with the delegations had the privilege to enjoy the local cuisine during the official dinner hosted by the Commander RBN at the Officers’ Mess, Muara Naval Base. Both Admirals exchanged speeches that underlined the strong ties through various interactions between both navies.
The TNI-AL and RBN have a long history of naval cooperation in form of bilateral and multilateral exercises, visits, professional exchanges and courses. Both navies also interact multilaterally through the ASEAN Navy Chief’s Meeting (ANCM), ASEAN Defence Minister’s Meeting Plus (ADMM-Plus) and Western Pacific Naval Symposium (WPNS).
ADM Ade Supandi was appointed as the 25th the Chief of Naval Staff of the Indonesia Navy on the 31 December 2014.
