MUARA, Sunday, 01 October 2017 – The Royal Australian Navy (RAN) ship HMAS MELBOURNE (FFG 05) is currently in Brunei Darussalam for a three-day goodwill visit from 30 September 2017 to 02 October 2017.

The frigate is commanded by Commander Charles Edward Bourne, RAN, carrying 24 officers and 171 crew members. During the visit, RBN and RAN will participate in various professional exchanges and sport interactions where both navies will have the opportunity to share invaluable experiences and deepen the friendship that they have forged over the years.

The HMAS MELBOURNE (FFG 05) held a reception onboard last night, where Yang Mulia First Admiral (Retired) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit, Deputy Minister of Defence was the Guest of Honour.

Also present were Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih Bin Abdullah, the Commander of the RBAF, Service Commanders, Deputy Permanent Secretaries, as well as other senior officers and officers of the Ministry of Defence and the RBAF.

HMAS MELBOURNE (FFG 05) will conduct a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with KDB DARUTTAQWA, which is scheduled to take place on Monday, 2 October 2017 before setting sail to her next port of call to Japan.
