MUARA, Thursday, 15 September 2016 – The Ibadah Korban ceremony was held today at the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) Surau.
The ceremony began with the recital of Surah Al-Baqarah by Lieutenant Junior Grade Mohammad Hafizzudin bin Mohd Yussof. Subsequently, the event was followed by the mass prayer of Fardhu Asar, Takbir Hari Raya Aidil Adha and Doa.
Present as the Guest of Honor during the ceremony was First Admiral Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Norazmi Bin Pengiran Haji Muhammad, Commander of RBN alongside Senior Officers, Officers and personnel of RBN.
The ceremony concluded with the distribution of ‘Daging Korban’ (sacrificial meat), which was presented by the Guest of Honor to RBN officers and personnel.
The sacrificial meat will also be distributed to selected fakir miskin (less-fortunate) and anak yatim (orphans) living in Muara and Serasa areas.
The religious activity was held to commemorate the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim Alaihi Salaam (a.s) and to glorify the patience of his son, Prophet Ismail a.s. It is conducted annually with respect to the month of Zulhijjah or more commonly known as the month of Hajj. Additionally, such religious activity foster good relationships among the officers and staff of RBN.
This year’s ceremony was organized by Lieutenant Cdr Shahairil bin Hj Md Shahlan, Head of Inspectorate Cell, RBN.
