MUARA, Wednesday 04 October 2017 – The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) welcomed a Phillipine Navy PN) warship, BRP ANDRES BONIFACIO FF-17, at Muara Commercial Wharf. The ship was greeted upon arrival by officers and personnel of the RBN, lead by Commander Shahairil bin Hj Md Shahlan, RBN Assistant Chief of Staff Capability Development.

The 7-day visit of BRP ANDRES BONIFACIO FF-17 to Brunei Darussalam starts from 03 to 09 September 2017 is in conjunction of Golden Jubilee Celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam which will be held on 05 October 2017. The frigate is commanded by Commander Julius Estigov Valdez. The Head of Delegation for the visit is Commodore Albert A. Mogul, the Commander of Fleet-Marine Ready Force, Philippine Navy.

Commodore Albert A. Mogul also made a courtesy call to First Admiral Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Norazmi bin Pengiran Haji Muhammad, Commander of RBN. During the call, the Commander of RBN expressed his warm welcome for the goodwill visit and cordial harmonious relationship between both navies. Commodore Albert also expressed appreciation to RBN for the aid assistance during the Typhoon Haiyan in Tacloban, Philippines in 2014. Both sides discussed to further strengthen bilateral relationship between two navies in the future.

During the visit, RBN and PN will also participate in various professional exchanges, in addition to sport interactions, that will enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the two navies.

BRP ANDRES BONIFACIO FF-17 will conduct a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with KDB DARUTTAQWA, which is scheduled to take place on Monday, 09 October 2017 before setting sail to her next port of call to Kuantan, Malaysia.
