Bandar Seri Begawan, 8 January 2015, Thursday – The Chief of Navy Republic of Singapore Navy, Rear Admiral Lai Chung Han called on Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah at the Ministry of Defence this morning.
Rear Admiral Lai Chung Han is in Brunei Darussalam for his introductory visit from 7 to 8 January 2015. The Rear Admiral also called on Commander of Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit and inspected a Guard of Honor presented by the personnel and RBN Band, led by Captain (L) Haji Abdul Hafiz Mubarak bin Haji Rosli, earlier today.
As part of his visit, Rear Admiral Lai has the opportunity to visit KDB DARULAMAN and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Defence Academy as well as the RBAF Museum.
The visit by Rear Admiral Lai Chung Han gives special value to the esteemed defence relationship between Brunei Darussalam and Republic of Singapore. The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) and Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) frequently through various activities and interactions; at present, the RBN also hosting the Warrant Officers and Specialists Exchange Programme from 6 – 9 January 2015, interaction between the Warrant Officers and Specialists between the two navies. These showing the commitment of both navies to enhance the friendship at multiple levels within the organisation and strengthened the camaraderie and friendship between personnel of the two navies.
The 2-star Admiral arrived in Brunei Darussalam yesterday, 7 January 2015 with his spouse, Madam Ng Chiew Yen. Datin Sakdiah binti Haji Mohd Noor, the wife of RBN Commander hosted Mrs. Lai to see the culture of the locals at Kampong Sungai Matan, Brunei Art and Handicrafts Centre and the Royal Regalia Building in Bandar Seri Begawan.
