SOUTH CHINA SEA, Sunday, 12 November 2017 – Exercise PELICAN 36/17 commences between Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) and Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) on the 10th November 2017 onboard KDB DARUTTAQWA. For this year exercise RSS STEADFASR represent RSN. Both ships are en route to Sattahip, Thailand to participate for and 1st ASEAN Multilateral Naval Exercise (AMNEX) 2017 and International Fleet Review (IFR) in conjunction with the celebration of 50th years establishment of Association of South East Asia Nations (ASEAN) hosted by Royal Thailand Navy (RTN). This year Exercise Pelican was hosted by RSN.
The opening ceremony of Exercise PELICAN 36/17 commenced with a welcoming remark by Lieutenant Commander Rasman bin Puteh, Commanding Officer KDB DARUTTAQWA who is also the Deputy Commander Task Group (DCTG) followed by the activation of Exercise PELICAN 36/17. The event was followed by a remarks by Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) Y J NG, Executive Officer of RSS STEADFAST, as a representative for Commander Task Group (CTG), Lieutenant Colonel Edwin Chen, Commanding Officer RSS STEADFAST. In both remarks stated the importance of Exercise PELICAN which is one of the platforms to reinforce the strength of the relationship between both navies mainly and both nations generally.
Both navies had successfully conducted the evolution for PELICAN 36/17 safely in which include communications, warfare and navigation serials. Personnel exchanged during the exercise was also conducted to accommodate both personnel the experience and perspective on the conduct of serials onboard respective navy.
The closing of Exercise PELICAN 36/17 was officially conducted onboard RSS STEADFAST by Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) Edwin Chen, Commanding Officer of RSS Steadfast the CTG for the exercise on the 12th November 2017.
