TUTONG, Friday, 28 October 2016 – 27 Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) personnel has successfully completed their course with flying colours at Bukit Agok Firing Rang, Tutong. The 6-weeks Basic Base Defence course was conducted by the 236 Squadron, Base Defence Air Regiment, Royal Brunei Airforce.
Present during the closing ceremony was the Guest of Honour, Commander Spry bin Hj Serudi @ Hj Seruji, RBN Fleet Commander. Accompanying him was Lieutenant Commander Surainawati bte Abdul Samat, RBN Commanding Officer Base.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by a demonstration of the Vehicle Check Point (VCP) wherein an attack was conducted to exhibit a riot scenario. It illustrated the importance of conducting the exercise in order to build confidence during an actual event.
The Guest of Honour handed both certificates and patches to the 27 personnel including the best student award to 50965 Ls Edi Jul Farizzan Bin Jefry for achieving both best academic and also the overall best performer.
The Basic Base Defence course is expected to enhance leadership, teambuilding skills, decision making, ability to work under pressure, mental and physical fitness.
