Bandar Seri Begawan, Friday, 1 November 2024 – This year marks the first decade of active service for KDB DARUTTAQWA in the Royal Brunei Navy Fleet. To commemorate her 10th anniversary, KDB DARUTTAQWA's officers and sailors organized a celebratory dinner at Higher Café, Higher Hotel, attended by former Commanding Officers, officers, and sailors who have served on the ship. KDB DARUTTAQWA is the fourth ship of the DARUSSALAM class and was commissioned on 8 September 2014 by His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah Ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince of Brunei Darussalam and General of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
A highlight of the event was the presence of the first Commanding Officer of KDB DARUTTAQWA, Captain Khairil Haji Abdul Rahman, RBN, as the guest of honor and further blessed with the attendance of former Commanding Officers, former officers, and the current ship’s company were also in attendance. The evening featured a video presentation showcasing the ship’s achievements and memorable moments, including her maiden voyage from Germany. This was followed by a cake-cutting ceremony led by all the Commanding Officers of KDB DARUTTAQWA.
The current Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Commander Mohd Aliashim Bin Alias, RBN, shared his reflections on KDB DARUTTAQWA's accomplishments, highlighting her participation in numerous bilateral and multilateral exercises. These include the ASEAN Multilateral Naval Exercise (AMNEX) in Thailand (2017), the International Fleet Review in the Republic of Korea (2018), the International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA’19) in Malaysia (2019), the ASEAN-Russian Naval Exercise (ARNEX) in Indonesia (2021), and the ASEAN Multilateral Naval Exercise in the Philippines (2023). The Commanding Officer commended the current crew, encouraging them to honor the legacy of those who came before and to uphold KDB DARUTTAQWA’s core values of Strength, Honor, and Unity in their daily duties.
The event concluded with a group photo and a Doa Selamat, a prayer for blessings and protection for all officers and crew by Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala.
This special occasion allowed KDB DARUTTAQWA's officers and sailors to strengthen their bonds, as teamwork and interpersonal relationships are essential to maintaining a highly efficient and supportive crew.
