PENANJONG GARISSON, Thursday, 17 October 2024 – The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) marked another milestone in the annual Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Half Marathon Championship and 10km Race 2024 held at the Mini Stadium, Penanjong Garrison. Present as the Guest of Honour was Yang Mulia Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, the Commander of the RBAF. Also in attendance were Services Commanders, Acting Service Commander, Acting Joint Force Commander, Senior Officers, RBAF officers and personnel.
A total of six categories were contested in the championship. The men’s categories include the 21km Team Event, 10km Open Event, and 10km Veteran Open Event and the women’s categories include the 10km Team Event, 10km Open Event, and 10km Veteran Open Event. The RBN emerged as the runner-up for this year’s Men’s 21km Team Event and third place for the 10 km Women’s Team Event.
Able Rate Nuralif bin Kaderi, RBN secured third place with 45:29 in the 10 km Men’s Open Event. Meanwhile, first and second places for the 10 km Women’s Open Event went to Lieutenant Junior Grade Kiara Esmeralda binti Iscramuon, RBN and Ordinary Rate Nurlyana Qur’Ratul Ain binti Haji Noraslan, RBN with 56:33 mins and 1:05:08 respectively. Warrant Officer 2 Dayangku Umi Ratna binti Pengiran Osman and Petty Officer Rahayu binti Ameran, RBN also secured second and third places respectively in the Women's 10km Veteran Event with 1:14:55 and 1:15:57.
In addition to the main events, all RBAF personnel attending went on a 3.6km Trail Walk at Bukit Si Bundang at Penanjong Garrison. The event culminated with a formal prize presentation to the winners in their respective categories and a group photo session.
This annual championship serves to promote sportsmanship and camaraderie among RBAF personnel.
