Muara Naval Base, Monday, 13 May 2024 — The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) received a significant study visit from the Command and General Staff (CGS) Course Class 74, Armed Forces of the Philippines Education, Training, and Doctrine Command at Nakhoda Ragam Hall, Naval Training Centre. The CGS 74 delegation was welcomed by Captain Sahibul Bahari bin Haji Zainal Abidin, Fleet Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy.
Captain Sahibul Bahari delivered the welcoming remarks, emphasizing the critical role of the RBN in national security. The delegation comprised 57 officers from the Armed forces of Philippines headed by Colonel Ronald Albert P. Genete.
The class of CGS 74 received an informative presentation from Commander Malek Fadillah bin Pehin Dato Juragan Laila Diraja Dato Seri Pahlawan Hj Kepli, Assistant Chief of Staff Naval Operations. This presentation provided an overview of the organizational structure and operational roles of the Royal Brunei Navy. A key feature of the visit was an engaging discussion session where CGS officers had the opportunity to ask questions directly to RBN representatives, enhancing their understanding of the RBN’s strategic operations.
The visit continued with a tour to Jetty Alpha, where the CGS officers boarded the KDB AS-SIDDIQ and KDB Al-FARUQ. During the familiarisation tour, the officers explored key areas of the ships, including the bridge, engine room, and main deck area.
The event concluded with a high tea reception at the Officers’ Mess, providing an opportunity for further interaction and exchange of ideas. This study visit underscored the Royal Brunei Navy’s commitment to fostering international military cooperation and enhancing mutual understanding among regional defense partners.
