SUB-LIEUTENANT COURSE (SLC) 2024 CONCLUDES

MUARA, Friday, 03 May 2024 - The closing ceremony for the Sub-Lieutenant Course (SLC) 2024 for 16 young officers including 3 international officer from the Indonesian Navy, Royal Malaysian Navy and Republic of Singapore Navy was held at Nakhoda Hall, Naval Training Centre (NTC).

The SLC 2024 was successfully conducted by NTC in collaboration with Brunei Engineering, Logistics and Training Solution (BELTS) for 14 weeks, comprising subjects on navigation, communications, basic warfare, and fire fighting and damage control. The course aims to train young officers in navigating ships safely in order to be the Officer of the Watch (OOW) onboard ships, and to enhance their professionalism of being a competent OOW and be able to execute coastal and ocean Passage Planning.

Present as the ceremony's Guest of Honour was the Fleet Commander of RBN, Captain Sahibul Bahari bin Haji Zainal Abidin, RBN. Also in presence was the Defence Attaché of Indonesia to Brunei Darussalam, Defence Advisor of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam, Defence Adviser of Republic of Singapore to Brunei Darussalam, RBN Fleet Officers, NTC Officers and Instructors and BELTS management and personnel.

Representing BELTS, Commander (R) Hj Suhailee bin Pungut, RBN delivered course completion speech and highlighted that the instructors are pleased to see the course participants working well with each other which showed their improvement throughout the course and leading to all participants being able to pass the course successfully.

The event then proceeded with a speech by the course representative from Indonesian Navy, Ensign (ENS) Ihsanul Khalif Arsyad. In his heart-felt speech, he expressed his gratitude and experience throughout the course. He emphasized that throughout the participant’s career, the officers must instil the values to lifelong learning and strive to make positive changes for the generations to come. 

After the speech from the course representative, the Guest of Honour presented the course participants with their completion of course certificate. The event concluded with the recitation of doa and followed by group photos.
