FINAL PLANNING CONFERENCE FOR 2ND ASEAN MULTILATERAL NAVAL EXERCISE (AMNEX) 02/23 IN MANILA, REPUBLIC OF PHILIPPINES


PASAY CITY, MANILA, 23 January 2023 – The Final Planning Conference (FPC) for 2nd ASEAN Multilateral Naval Exercise (AMNEX) 02/23 was successfully conducted at The Heritage Hotel, Pasay City, Manila from 17 until 20 January 2023. The FPC was hosted by Philippine Navy (PN) as the Exercise Coordinator for this AMNEX edition for all ASEAN Navies.

 

The aim of the FPC was to follow up, coordinate and confirm the exercise serials and activities previously discussed during the Initial Planning Conference (IPC) last December 2022. The Conference was also aimed to ensure the planned exercises and activities are mutually agreed and beneficial to all in terms of training values, fostering the long-standing friendship and cooperation between the other ASEAN Navies through best practices and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

 

Representing the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) during the FPC were Lieutenant Commander Mohamad Husaini bin Haji Mohd Sofian, RBN, Commanding Officer of KDB AFIAT as RBN's Head of Delegation and Lieutenant Mohamad Haziq@Ahmad bin Mohammad Ali, RBN, Principal Warfare Officer of KDB DARUTTAQWA as Exercise Planner. Other navy representatives from ASEAN member states include Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

 

This years' AMNEX will be the second iteration to be held in conjunction with the ASEAN Fleet Review, celebrating its 56th Anniversary. Royal Brunei Navy is committed towards fostering relations with its regional partners, enhancing cooperation and interoperability through the development of common operational doctrines as well as procedures in Naval Evolution and Maritime Tactics. The exercise is planned to be held from 9th until 16th May 2023.
