FAREWELL CALL BY THE AUSTRALIAN DEFENCE ADVISER IN REPUBLIC OF SINGAPORE ACCREDITED TO BRUNEI DARUSSALAM

MUARA, Wednesday, 18 February 2021 -The Commander of Royal Brunei Navy, First Admiral Spry bin Haji Serudi @ Haji Seruji, received a farewell call at the Royal Brunei Navy Headquarters from Commodore Richard Caton, the Australian Defence Adviser in Republic of Singapore accredited to Brunei Darussalam.

During the farewell call, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the existing bilateral defence ties between Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) and Royal Australian Navy (RAN) that have flourished since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Brunei Darussalam and Australia on 5 May 1984. The bilateral defence ties between RBN and RAN have strengthened through professional exchanges, port visits, interactions in multilateral events and conferences. The bilateral relations between both navies are further bolstered following the virtual signing of the Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) User Group Members Charter on 11 February 2021.

Commodore Richard Caton was accompanied by the Defence Adviser of Australia to Brunei, Lieutenant Colonel Dan Hauser. Commodore Richard Caton has held the appointment of non-resident Defence Adviser in Republic of Singapore accredited to Brunei Darussalam in December 2018. Commodore Richard Caton was accredited to Brunei prior to Australia opening up its DA office here in Brunei in 2019.
