VIRTUAL SIGNING OF THE ARAFURA / DARUSSALAM CLASS OFFSHORE PATROL VESSEL USER GROUP MEMBERS CHARTER VIA A VIDEO TELECONFERENCE BETWEEN RBN AND RAN

MUARA, Tuesday, February 11, 2021 – First Admiral Spry bin Haji Serudi @ Haji Seruji, Commander of Royal Brunei Navy convened a video teleconference with Vice Admiral Michael Noonan, Chief of Navy, Royal Australian Navy (RAN) and officiated the virtual signing of the Arafura / Darussalam Class Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) User Group members charter between both navies.

 During the call, both sides affirmed their commitment in further strengthening friendly ties between two navies despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. Despite the restrictions imposed, bilateral engagements pertinently remain as both navies highlighted the engagement opportunities the OPV User Group dialogue accords. With the signing of the charter, the bilateral relations between both navies is further consolidated as the platform enables regular collaboration and sharing of knowledge and best practices.

 The OPV User Group will be co-chaired by the Director of Mine Warfare, Patrol and Geospatial within the RAN and the Commandant Support Service within the RBN.
